Arrive at Piccadilly Circus tube station, exit through the ticket barriers, then walk all the way round to the "back" of the circular concourse.
Here, you will find the exit signed "Regent Street East Side / Subway 1" - go this way.
Go up the ramp, up the stairs to street level, then cross the road and walk
up Sherwood Street
(so the now-closed Regent Palace Hotel is on your left and the donut shop is on your right)
(2007 note: the Regent Palace Hotel closed a while ago - they've taken the name off it and it's now all boarded up)
If you left the tube station by a different exit, or walked to Piccadilly Circus from elsewhere, find BURGER KING:
Continue past the Piccadilly Theatre, currently hosting Grease
Straight on past The Crown (left) and Caffe Nero (right)
You will then emerge on to the corner of Golden Square. Presuming the weather is OK, we'll be in the nice open bit in the middle! (If not, we'll probably be in the Midas Touch pub, which is immediately on Golden Square - on the right if you're following this route)
